#JUST CAUSE (FILM) MOVIE#
It's the kind of movie where you look at the screen and start imagining the push-pins holding the 3-by-5 cards to the cork board in a Hollywood office, as the filmmakers try to keep the plot straight. In our review, Robert Zak wrote that it “still delivers the series’ sandbox mayhem, but is underserved by some pretty dated combat and design ideas. Just Cause' starts out strong and then, boy, does it jump the rails.
#JUST CAUSE (FILM) SERIES#
The most recent instalment, Just Cause 4, introduced some cool weather events but was otherwise a fairly rote addition to a series which is better played with podcasts. I’ve played and enjoyed all three of the later Just Cause games but I couldn’t tell you what happened in any of them, so this film could actually be helpful. Rodriguez will be accompanied by an as-yet-unnamed female co-lead, the addition of whom will give the film a “Romancing the Stone vibe,” according to Deadline. The Just Cause film is set to follow the same overall plot as the video games, focusing on Rico Rodriguez on a mission against The Black Hand terrorist organization. His grandmother brings a Harvard University professor a letter from him asking the professor to look into his case because he is innocent of the murder he allegedly committed. A black man has been held in jail for eight years and will soon be executed.

According to a Deadline report, the film will follow the series protagonist Rico Rodriguez as he swings and glides and shoots in the general direction of The Black Hand, the game’s longrunning villain mercenary group. Just Cause you round up a phenomenal cast, that doesn't mean you have everything you need for a solid legal thriller - and this film is forgettable proof. Just Cause is an attention grabbing film that holds viewer's interest throughout. The Canadian director has most recently worked on the Netflix film Coffee & Kareem, as well as the 2019 “buddy cop” film Stuber. The series is getting a film written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, and it’s just landed a director in Michael Dowse. Hes charged, convicted and goes to prison. Other people look at it and think: that’s movie material. Bobby Earl is arrested (old-style cop tactics, by the by, no Miranda warning here) for murdering a little girl. When I think of Just Cause I think of grappling hooks and wingsuits and blowing up big red-coloured industrial buildings.
